Trent Reznor’s Biography

The beginnings

Born in Mercer, Pennsylvania, Reznor discovers precocious talent at the piano; at the age of 5 he was able to play it autonomously; her childhood is marked by the difficult relationship with her parents and caring for him is her maternal grandmother. I Nine Inch Nails

The official debut of Nine Inch Nails (formed by Reznor, Vrenna and guitarist Richard Patrick) is dated 1989, with the album Pretty Hate Machine, which will become a real cult in the Industrial scene of the period; Reznor is a multi-instrumentalist who, despite being influenced by the Ministry, manages to range without difficulty between electronics, synth pop, Hip Hop and dark atmospheres.

How To Destroy Angels

With the Nine Inch Nails project set aside, Trent Reznor together with his wife Mariqueen Maandig and Atticus Ross create How To Destroy Angels , a band with an industrial and electronic influence.On May 4, 2010, they released the single in digital format A Drowning, followed 10 days later by The Space in Between videoclip. A third track will be published through the iPad application of Wired Magazine and the official website. The piece, titled The Believers, will be part of the 2011 film of the film “Limitless”.

On June 1st 2010 an EP is published containing the aforementioned tracks along with three other unpublished pieces, entitled How To Destroy Angels.

On December 9, 2011, the band publishes a cover of Bryan Ferry’s song Is Your Love Strong Enough? for the soundtrack of the film Millennium – Men who hate the women of David Fincher.

In an interview Trent Reznor said he was in post-production the first full-length album, due out in summer 2012. In reality, on November 16, 2012 will be distributed in digital format and on vinyl, the second EP of the band called An Omen EP .

The band’s first full-length album, entitled Welcome Oblivion, will be released March 5, 2013, after being made available as a pre-listening version on the pitchfork.com portal.

The composition of soundtracks

In 2001 Reznor was contacted by Mark Romanek to compose the soundtrack of the movie One Hour Photo but in the end the production, due to divergences, was not used.

In 2010 he collaborated with Atticus Ross to create the soundtrack of David Fincher’s film The Social Network. In this regard, Trent said: “When I read the script and understood what he was doing, I said goodbye to the free time I had planned.” For this work Reznor and Ross in 2011 won the Golden Globe for the best original soundtrack and the Oscar Award for the best soundtrack. Reznor and Ross continue to collaborate with the American director, taking care of the Millennium soundtrack in 2011 – Men who hate women and in 2014 the soundtrack of The Liar Love – Gone Girl.

In the Call of Duty Video Game: Black Ops II has created a theme for the soundtrack.

In 2013 he participated with Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age to the creation of the song Mantra, closing track of Sound City: Real to Reel, soundtrack of the film directed by Grohl , Sound City.

In 2016 he again composed together with Atticus Ross, the soundtrack of the film Boston – Human Hunt, film that tells the story of the attack on the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013, directed by Peter Berg.This is the fourth collaboration with Ross and the first with Berg.
