Roger Hodgson , full name Charles Roger Pomfret Hodgson (Portsmouth, March 21, 1950), is a British musician and singer.

Roger Hodgson’s Biography

Raised in Oxford in a wealthy family and sent to study in the prestigious Stowe School, Hodgson plays in some minor bands and in 1969 he released a record (Mr Boyd) with the then young and unknown Elton John and his musicians Nigel Olsson and Caleb Quaye, under the name of “Argosy”.

The same year, responding to an announcement by Rick Davies, founded the Supertramp, group in which he played from 1970 to 1983 when, in disagreement with Davies, with whom he had signed substantially all the production of the band up on the album “… Famous last words …”, he decided to embark on a solo career.

A singer with excellent vocal qualities, a good guitarist and keyboard player, he is the author of almost all the hits of the British group (among others “Breakfast in America”, “Take the Long Way Home”, “It’s Raining Again”, “The Logical Song”, “School”, “Dreamer”, “Give a Little Bit”).

In the eighties he produced two albums, the first of which, “In the Eye of the Storm”, achieved good commercial success.

In the nineties, after a long convalescence due to an accident (falling from a bunk bed resulting in broken wrists) occurred after the publication of his second album “Hai Hai”, he participated in the album Talk of Yes as co-author of the song Walls and some tours together with other stars of rock and pop. In the last decade he has traveled the world with a continuous series of acoustic performance dates called “Solotramp”, which combines new songs and Supertramp classics.

In 2000 he published, with the collaboration of the French composer Alan Simon, the album “Open the door”, which to this day remains the last album of unpublished works.

In the same year he collaborates with the Galician musician Carlos Núñez, singing the piece “The moon says hello” in the album “Mayo Longo”.

In May 2006, Roger Hodgson was honored by the ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) for his song “Give A Little Bit” as one of the most performed in the 2005 ASCAP repertoire. received another ASCAP in 2008 for “Cupid’s Chokehold”.

Hodgson performed at the Diana Concert at Wembley Stadium, England, on July 1st 2007, where he sang a medley of his most popular pieces: “Dreamer”, “The Logical Song”, “Breakfast in America “and” Give A Little Bit “.
