Rashida’s Biography

Born in California, daughter of record producer Quincy Jones and her third wife, actress Peggy Lipton, she grew up in Bel Air, Los Angeles. The father is African-American while the mother is Jewish, she has an older sister, Kidada Jones, also an actress, and five half-brothers born from her father’s previous relationships.

He studied at the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, and attended a Jewish school. His parents divorced when Jones was 14; her sister stayed with her father while she moved to Brentwood with her mother. After high school, Jones left California to study at Harvard, with the intention of becoming a lawyer but soon became involved in various activities related to the world of entertainment. He studied religion and philosophy, graduating in 1997.

Career

He made his professional debut in 1997, participating in the television miniseries L’ultimo padrino, based on the novel of the same name by Mario Puzo, later he took part in the independent productions Myth America and East of A and the TV movie Women. He took part in an episode of Freaks and Geeks, before joining the Boston Public television series, where from 2000 to 2002 he played the role of Louisa Fenn. In the last year of his stay in Boston Public, he received an NAACP Image Award nomination.

He then co-starred with Adam Brody in the short Roadside Assistance and got a small role in Steven Soderbergh’s Full Frontal. In 2003 he appeared in Death of a Dynasty, but the following year he played in the HBO film directed by Sidney Lumet Strip Search, but in the final version of the film his scenes are cut. After taking part in my boyfriend’s comedy Tutti le ex, he plays the role of detective Carla Merced in the short-lived detective series Wanted.

It appears in the films The Ten and Role Models, both directed by David Wain, but in the latter its part has been cut in the version for the rooms, only appearing in the DVD and Blu-ray Disc version. In September 2006 he joined the cast of the television series The Office, where until 2009 he played the role of Karen Filippelli.

In 2008 he participated in the short life series Unhitched, produced by the brothers Farrelly, at the cinema takes part in Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, based on a collection of short stories by David Foster Wallace and presented in competition at Sundance Film Festival 2009, and the comedy I Love You, Man, where Zooey is the girlfriend of Paul Rudd. Jones took part in the Tupac Shakur tribute album The Rose that Grew from Concrete, and he also performed songs for the soundtracks of the films The Baxter, The Ten and Reno 911 !: Miami.

Jones had a two and a half year relationship with actor Tobey Maguire, who ended in 2000. He later became engaged to music producer Mark Ronson, but the relationship ended in 2004.

She was a friend of rapper Tupac Shakur, who was engaged to his sister Kidada before being killed. The relationship with Shakur had begun in a stormy fashion, when in 1994 he wrote an open letter to respond to the stinging affirmations of the rapper on the interracial marriage of his parents.
