John Paul Densmore (Los Angeles, December 1, 1944) is an American drummer.
It is known for being the drummer of the rock group The Doors.
John Densmore’s Biography
Densmore’s style was singular: his drums sounded like the second voice (after Morrison’s) of the band. Densmore preferred a minimalist battery configuration. Unlike all other rock drummers, Densmore followed the lyrics and lyrics of the songs directly. He is considered a jazz drummer, although for the rock music scene he has contributed to developing a unique expressionistic bacterial approach.
He was forced to take piano lessons from the age of ten, he studied classics like Bach or Beethoven, but did not adapt to the idea of producing music of that kind, because he simply did not reflect his personality . When he reached the gymnasium he finally managed to try his hand at the instrument he had always wanted to play, the drums. As stated in his autobiography (Riders on the Storm), for a year he formally studied on rubber mats all the basic drums, before his teacher allowed him to touch a real drum. Later, he put the money aside and bought a second-hand battery with which he could practice without fear of breaking it or ruining it. He played many hours a day, often losing track of time and sometimes leaving schoolwork, he was so involved with music. In high school he experimented with symphonic music, then for another three years with Jazz.
In 2011 he produced a single together with Skrillex, well-known Dubstep music artist, the song Break’n A Sweat.
In December 2013, together with Robby Krieger, he was a guest at the celebratory event held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). On that occasion the organizer and interviewer Elvis Mitchell of LACMA announced that, during an interview in the ’70s to Elvin Jones, legendary jazz drummer, he said that the young drummers who most admired were John Densmore and Keith Moon.

Then came the passion for poetry and the music that he produced with the Doors, the historic group he was a drummer from the constitution, in 1965, until the dissolution occurred in 1973, two years after the death of Jim Morrison. The Doors without their leader will produce two more albums, Other Voices and Full Circle, cut short by critics and subsequently re-evaluated by the band’s fans.Do not forget that he also wrote a book entitled Riders on the Storm in which he clearly reveals his contrasts with Jim Morrison, a figure that has never managed to dominate.
