Floor’s Biography

Floor Jansen (Goirle, 21 February 1981) is a Dutch singer-songwriter, from 2012 member of the Finnish music group Nightwish.

She was the singer of the symphonic metal group After Forever from 1997 until their dissolution in 2009, and founder and singer-songwriter of the progressive metal band ReVamp until their dissolution in 2016. During her career, Jansen several times collaborated with the composer and multi-instrumentalist Arjen Anthony Lucassen: he is a member of the Star One supergroup and has sung in the Universal Migrator records Part 1: The Dream Sequencer, 01011001 and The Source of the Ayreon.

He also lent his voice to many songs on the album Quarterpast (MaYaN) and Angels of the Apocalypse (Avalon).

After Forever (1997-2009)

Interested in music as a young girl, Floor enters After Forever at the age of 16, when, in other words, she has not yet started her own musical studies. Three years later the band released its first album, Prison Of Desire, and Jansen became popular in the metal scene thanks to its ability in both classical and rock singing. After the release of the co-writer of the lyrics Mark Jansen (no relation), Floor took the full load of the lyrics. Before becoming a full-time musician he worked as a singing teacher.

After the burnout of the founder Sander Commans, After Forever decide to take a year off and then officially break up in 2009.

ReVamp (2009-2016)

One year after After Forever broke up in February 2009, Floor founded a new band called ReVamp, whose self-titled debut album was released in Europe on June 4, 2010.

In 2011, Floor had a burnout and at the end of the same year, after having hardly recovered, took part in the tour of the MaYaN in Latin America.

ReVamp broke up at the end of September 2016, following a pause caused by Floor’s commitments with Nightwish.

Nightwish (2012-present)

In 2012, after the separation of Nightwish by singer Anette Olzon, Floor Jansen temporarily replaces the Swedish singer in the Imaginaerum World Tour of 2012. During this tour Jansen recorded the live DVD Showtime, Storytime, with the band.

She received the call asking her to replace Olzon while she was at her sister’s wedding. His first show with Nightwish was in Seattle in 2012.

On 9 October 2013, his stay in the group is announced by the other members of the band, being very warmly welcomed by most of the fans.

On December 9, 2013, she was announced as the lead singer on Timo Tollki’s second metal work project, Avalon.

On March 25, 2015 he released his first studio album with Nightwish (Endless Forms Most Beautiful) and in 2016 he released the second live DVD of the band with Floor on voice, Vehicle Of Spirit.
