Cleavon Little (Chickasha, June 1, 1939 – Sherman Oaks, October 22, 1992) was an American actor, remembered mainly for having portrayed Sheriff Bart in the film Midday and a Half of Fire ( 1974) by Mel Brooks.

Cleavon Little’s Biography

He was a student of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He was the first black actor in 1967 to win a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical, for his portrayal of Ossie Davis in Purlie (1961). He has the 7070 star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

He passed away in 1992, aged 53, from a colon cancer.
